Solcito Swim and ISR

Ruth Engeset
ISR Certified Instructor

My journey with Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) began the same way it does for many parents—with a desire to keep my children safe. For me, that desire was sparked by a terrifying near-drowning incident at a community park. I was close enough to get to my son in time, but the experience shook me to my core. From that day forward, I was determined to find a program that would truly teach my children the skills they needed to survive in the water.

I tried multiple swim programs, searching for something effective and meaningful. When I finally discovered ISR, everything clicked. Here was a program that didn’t just teach children to be comfortable in the water—it taught them real, life-saving survival skills that would stay with them for years to come. I enrolled my younger son as well, even though he was just over a year old. It was nerve-wracking at first, but he completed his training— and now, at four years old, he absolutely loves the water.

When it came time for refresher lessons, I met Kim Marks and Cassidy Brown of Safe Aquatics. Their passion, professionalism, and support ultimately inspired me to pursue ISR training myself.

I completed my certification in Bogotá, Colombia, where I am originally from, and fully immersed myself in everything the ISR mission stands for. Today, I am proud and excited to bring that knowledge, passion, and experience to our community.

My goal is simple: to share the gift of survival swim skills and carry forward ISR’s mission of “Not One More Child Drowns.”

When I finally discovered ISR, everything clicked. Here was a program that didn’t just teach children to be comfortable in the water—it taught them real, life-saving survival skills that would stay with them for years to come.

ISR is recognized globally as the safest and most effective provider of survival swimming lessons for infants and young children. Backed by more than 50 years of research, ISR has successfully taught over 15 million children vital water survival skills.

Through the Self-Rescue® program, children from six months to six years learn how to stay safe and survive if they ever end up in the water alone.

What is ISR?

ISR lessons are designed around your child’s own pace and development. Every one-on-one session is customized to match their abilities and needs, helping them learn safely and confidently.

ISR isn’t your typical swim lesson. With over 50 years of research behind it, ISR’s survival swimming method helps children build a lasting love for the water while giving them the skills and confidence to survive if they ever reach the water on their own.
